Bobcat Mother, Kittens Caught On Video Near Auburn

PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) - A mother bobcat and her kittens were photographed walking through the forest near Auburn on Sunday.

California Wildlife Encounters shot the video footage with motion-activated trail cameras in north Auburn.

The photos were taken by a volunteer with Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, a non-profit, volunteer organization that rescues and rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife. An organization spokesperson says they are swamped with baby animal rescues.

According to NationalGeorgraphic.com, bobcats are elusive and nocturnal, so they're rarely spotted by humans. They roam throughout much of North America and adapt well to diverse habitats.

Sometimes called wildcats, bobcats are roughly twice as big as the average housecat.
