Big Sky Conference Basketball Championship Could Be Played At Sac State

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - If the Hornets' men's basketball team wins the Big Sky Conference regular-season title, the conference championship will be held at Sac State.

In a press release issued Friday, conference by Assistant Commissioner Jon Kasper wrote if the Hornets win, the game will be held in The Well.

Nearly 3,000 seats, a portable court, a lighting structure, and basketball stanchions provided by the Kings, will be moved to the 110,000-square-foot structure. Although the Hornets' final regular-season game will be played on March 7, work will begin immediately at the facility in preparation for the eight-team event.

Sacramento State is currently 11-3 in conference, just behind Eastern Washington (11-2). Montana (11-3) and Northern Arizona (9-4) are also in contention for the title.

The conference champ is automatically given a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
