Crash Involving Big Rig, Multiple Passenger Vehicles Damages Guardrail On WB 50, West Of Business 80

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — A crash involving a big rig cab and two passenger vehicles is blocking a lane of westbound 50 before the business 80 connector.

The crash was reported just after 9 p.m. Tuesday. Caltrans says the crash caused guardrail damage and is blocking the outside lanes of the highway. Crews responded to the scene to help clean-up the damage and an oil spill in the roadway.

CHP says the big rig driver was driving recklessly westbound on Highway 50 when they lost control and slammed into the guardrail and clipped a pickup. Debris from the crash fell onto 39th Street below the highway, landing on a vehicle and a traffic light.

Crews put up approximately 50 feet of temporary guardrail on Highway 50.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Caltrans warned drivers to slow down on the wet roadways.

CHP said the truck driver was cited after the crash.
