Big Rig Hauling Sand Flips Over On Highway 70 Near Olivehurst

OLIVEHURST (CBS13) – The latest on a big rig crash on Highway 70 Friday morning:

9:28 a.m.

Caltrans says the big rig that flipped over and spilled sand all over Highway 70 has been uprighted.

Maintenance crews have also cleared debris from the roadway.

Southbound Highway 70 is now open, Caltrans says. Traffic had been diverted for most of the morning.

6:37 a.m.

An overturned big rig is blocking southbound Highway 70 in Yuba County Friday morning.

The scene is just south of Olivehurst.

The big rig, which was hauling sand, overturned a little after 5:30 a.m. It's unclear why the big rig crashed.

Sand has been spilled all over the roadway, so expect and extensive clean-up operation.

California Highway Patrol is rerouting traffic in the area due to the crash. Drivers should avoid the area if at all possible.
