Big Rig Crashes Off Highway 99, Narrowly Misses Fire Station

STANISLAUS COUNTY (CBS13) – A big rig narrowly avoided hitting a Ceres fire station Tuesday morning.

California Highway Patrol says the big rig was on Highway 99 when it went off the freeway and crashed next to the fire station near Pecos Avenue. CHP says the driver had some sort of medical emergency.

After coming off the freeway, the big rig crashed into a fence, an electric box and a parked car - just missing the Ceres Fire Station No. 2 building.

The fire crew was out on a call at the time of the crash.

Stanislaus County authorities say the driver of the big rig has been taken to the hospital for evaluation. The driver is expected to be OK.
