Bicyclist Dead After Collision With Train In Elk Grove

ELK GROVE (CBS13) — Elk Grove police are investigating a fatal collision between a freight train and a bicyclist north of Bond Road and east of Elk Grove Florin Road.
Police said the unidentified male adult was riding his bike eastbound on Bond Road as the train was traveling north when the collision took place.
Witnesses told police the railroad crossing arms and lights were activated and functioning, the freight train operator sounded the train's horn, and vehicles stopped at the railroad crossing were honking their horns as well.
The bicyclist's identity has not been released.
Officers diverted traffic from southbound Elk Grove Florin Road just north of West Camden. The roadway has reopened.
