The Fire Spectacular is an exhilarating festival full of dance, fire, myth, fantasy and light, created and performed by Obsidian Butterfly and the Sacred Fire Dance Company. Director Sequoia Dawn is an accomplished and intuitive dancer, fire artist, choreographer and teacher. "Parts of the festival will be interactive," says Dawn, "we'll be working with the audience." The eclectic, mesmerizing event, now in its ninth year, will include hoop dancers, fire artists, circus performers and other fascinating oddities. Vendors will be on hand as well, offering items such as herbal elixirs, crafts and massage.

Dancers with the Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet Theatre, a nonprofit company committed to preserving classical ballet, will perform at this special event at the Harris Center. The second act of Swan Lake, with music by Tchaikovsky, is a visually emotional experience considered a favorite of ballet lovers. The program will also include Pas de Deux, Pas de Quatre and Quixote.

In the Hawaiian language, a hālau is a school or group, and ho'ike is an opportunity to show what has been learned. At this event, the schools of Ka Waikahe Lani Malie, "peaceful, heavenly, flowing water" and Kahulaliwai, "the water's reflection," will celebrate the hula and Hawaiian culture. Dancers will be accompanied by the popular musical group Kekaniwai for this annual night of aloha.

Professional ballet collective Capital Dance Project is bringing together many of the best dancers, performers, musicians and visual artists in the Sacramento area for this exuberant multi-media event. The exciting performance marks the world premiere of nine new creative works, which came to life through the combined efforts of Capital Dance and other local musician and artists. Collaborators include Raphael Delgado, Kevin Zee, Franceska Gamez, Waylon Horner and Elijah Jenkins.

Popular Sacramento DJ Billy Lane will bring the tunes for this joyful 5th annual celebration of dance, and sales of t-shirts will help raise funds for nonprofits including local youth and community charity 3 Point 0. In addition to watching the high energy performances, event guests of all skill levels and ages can join in on one dance.
