'Bearded Bandit' Arrested After Being Spotted Buying Razors

BRENTWOOD, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a suspected bank robber dubbed the Bearded Bandit has been arrested in the San Francisco Bay Area after a sharp-eyed citizen recognized him buying razors to shave his beard.

The Oakland Tribune reports Thursday that the man was wanted for 11 bank robberies throughout Northern California. He was arrested Wednesday night in Brentwood.

A drug store shopper saw the hairy-faced suspect shopping for razors and called police. The suspect then led police on a chase throughout the city of Brentwood. His name and age were not released.

Authorities say he would enter banks and demand money from a teller without ever showing a gun. No one was ever injured in the heists that started in early February. The amount of money stolen was not released.
