Bear, Cubs Ransack South Lake Tahoe Home For Pies

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) — A bear and a couple of cubs broke into a South Lake Tahoe home and snatched some pies.

The owners say they came home to their fridge ransacked and their whole Fourth of July spread either eaten or tossed around. They say the bears must have pulled off the screen and crawled through the window.

The hungry bears ate the pies and left cheese sticks in the bedroom before taking off.

"The littlest one says 'it's a bear it's a bear!' We thought she was kidding and we turned around and looked and the mama bear was just coming out in the middle of the road and the two cubs were following her playing," said Brian Halligan.

No one was injured.

The homeowners say next time the windows will be latched.
