Basketball Coach Stabbed At Waterford High School

WATERFORD (CBS13) – Deputies say a basketball coach was stabbed at Waterford High School Monday night.

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department, basketball coach Josh Whitfield was on campus at around 10 p.m. when he saw three men who were trying to break into one of the school's buildings.

Whitfield confronted the men and was stabbed in the stomach, deputies say.

The three suspects left the area in a black SUV. One of the suspects was reportedly wearing a 49ers jersey.

Whitfield is also a member of the Waterford City Council. He is expected to be OK.
