Ballot Measure Aims For Rent Control In Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramento may emerge as a battleground in the rent control debate.

Housing advocates want the city to cap annual rent hikes on older apartments at 5 percent and they've have filed paperwork with the city to collect signatures to get the measure on the November ballot.

The Sacramento area has experienced some of the largest rent increases in the nation.

Real estate firms estimate it's increased nearly 10 percent over the last year.
