Balloons Released In Memory Of 6-Year-Old Manteca Girl

MANTECA (CBS13) – A Manteca youth football game became the scene of an emotional ceremony Saturday morning to remember a 6-year-old girl.

Jordan Morrison was a cheerleader for the Manteca Chargers.

Her teammates and family friends held a prayer circle and released balloons in her favorite color orange after she was killed when a car hit as she walked to school Friday.

"She was very energetic, she was always smiling, always laughing with the kids, always joking around playing," said Mendy Smith, Jordan's cheer coach.

The driver that hit Jordan is cooperating with police. Police say he stopped at the crosswalk and then drove forward, hitting Jordan.

Parents have organized a group to volunteer as crossing guards at that intersection starting next week.
