Baby Born In SUV Parked Alongside Busy California Freeway

DEVORE, Calif. (AP) - Firefighters have helped deliver a baby girl on the side of a busy Southern California freeway.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports a family of four was driving on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass late Friday when a pregnant passenger went into labor.

The family parked their SUV on the shoulder next to the center divider somewhere between Devore and Hesperia where they received help from first responders. California Highway Patrol officers shined flashlights into the family's car as San Bernardino County Fire paramedics guided the woman through labor.

The baby was the second child for the mother, whose 3-year-old daughter was in the vehicle, and the sixth newborn delivered by paramedic Dustin Krajeski.
