Person detained after shooting along Auburn Boulevard in Sacramento

1 hospitalized, 1 detained after Sacramento shooting

SACRAMENTO — One person was detained after a shooting in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento, authorities said Thursday night.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said it received a call for the shooting at around 9:40 p.m. from Auburn Boulevard, just west of the Watt Avenue intersection and Business 80 ramps.

Upon arrival, officers found one person was shot, who was rather uncooperative with deputies and gave little to no information about the shooting. After administering first-aid to the victim, he was then taken to an area hospital where his injuries were described as not life-threatening.

Further investigation identified the suspect as 23-year-old Shawn Currie, who was later found and taken into custody.

He was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he was booked into custody.

The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
