Attempted Murder Suspect Hit By Car As He Ran Across Freeway

GLENDORA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man wanted for attempted murder drove the wrong way on a Los Angeles-area highway and then was struck by a car as he attempted to sprint across lanes to elude police.

The California Highway Patrol says all eastbound lanes of Interstate 210 in Glendora are closed following the crash early Thursday.

Officials say the suspect is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

South Gate police Sgt. Chris Dahlia tells City News Service the man was being sought for an attempted murder on August 9. Dahlia did not elaborate.

The pursuit began in Azusa around 12:30 a.m. The suspect drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of the 210, stopped his vehicle near the center divider and attempted to run across the eastbound lanes when he was struck.
