Authorities: Severely Injured Nevada County Man Wasn't Attacked By Mountain Lion

NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) - A man who was found along a Nevada County road with his throat slashed over the weekend was assaulted by a human, say authorities.

Deputies were dispatched to You Bet Road and Greenhaven Lane around 5:30 p.m. Sunday on reports that a man, 50, had a deep cut on his throat. Originally, it was suspected he was attacked by a mountain lion, but an investigation between Nevada County Sheriff's Department and the Department of Fish and Wildlife concluded the attack was from a human, according to a sheriff's department statement.

Detectives were at the scene of the incident and have requested a warrant to search the victim's nearby home and property where they believe he was assaulted.

No arrests have been made in the case, which is active and ongoing.

Anyone with information about the suspected assault is asked to call the Nevada County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit at (530)265-1263.
