PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) - A social media post is credited with helping bring in an attempted robbery suspect.

Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, 20-year-old Noah C. Francis was inside "The Store" on Highway 49 and Dry Creek Road when he picked up a 12-pack of beer and allegedly tried to walk out without paying.

The clerk reportedly stopped Francis and a fight resulted. Francis left the store, but reportedly came back twice and punched the clerk numerous times. He came back a third time and put a knife to the clerk's throat, according to a statement from Placer County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Dena Erwin.

Surveillance photos of the incident were posted on the Placer County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page, and late Thursday, Francis turned himself in at the Auburn Jail, says Erwin. He faces charges of attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

His bail is set at $65,000.
