As Sacramento State Students Move In, School Starts Planning Their Move-Out

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — As Sacramento State starts a new school year, administrators have their eyes on the freshman class with hopes of getting them through in four years.

Christina Martinez was one of many during freshman move-in who plan to take on the campus' plan to graduate in four years.

"I love pressure; it makes me work better," she said.

Just nine percent of Sacramento State students graduate on time; and to combat that, freshman who pledge to take 15 units a semester and get out in four years get added discounts and help from advisers.

The school also added a graduation czar to help students get classes they need to meet that four-year goal.

Martinez says the four-year incentive will help her meet her academic and life goals.

"My grandma is a registered nurse and she got in and out in four years. So if I can get in and out in four years, I would just get the job faster and start my life faster," she said.
