Woman Dies In Arden Arcade Townhome Fire

ARDEN ARCADE (CBS13) – One person is dead after a fire at an Arden Arcade townhome early Monday morning.

The scene is along Woodside Lane, off of Northrop Avenue.

"You know it's a horrible thing," Sue Boone, a neighbor, said.

Firefighters say two units were affected by the fire, which was first reported just before 6 a.m.

"At 4 o'clock I woke up and I smelt the smoke. I thought it was from an area you know from somewhere around here," Boone said.

She said she didn't know how close the fire was until her downstairs neighbor banged on her door.

"I guess it was around 5 and she told me there's a fire on the roof," Boone said.

The fear of the fire spread began to set in for Boone.

"I was concerned. They reassured me that they were putting it out," she said.

Authorities later confirmed that a woman had been found dead.

Boone said she didn't know her neighbor well. But the woman's family is on her mind.

"I've been praying for this morning and for her family. I don't know if she has family anywhere around here," Boone said.

Exactly what caused the fire is still unclear. No information about the victim has been released at this point.
