Antelope Teacher Fired After Sex Change Charged In Oakland Triple Homicide

OAKLAND (CBS13) — A former Sacramento-area teacher has been charged with a triple homicide in Oakland.

Dana Rivers, 61, is being held without bail on charges of arson and three counts of murder.

Rivers made national headlines in 1999 when she was fired from Center High School in Antelope after undergoing a sex change.

She is accused of the shooting and stabbing deaths of an Oakland couple and their son.

Officers responded to a home on the 9400 block of Dunbar Drive early Friday morning and found Toto M. Diambu in front of the home with an apparent stab wound.

While officers were aiding Diambu, they heard a loud bang from the garage and saw Rivers walking out of the home covered in blood. They say Rivers made statements about her involvement in the murders.

Inside the home, investigators found Charlotte Kuulei Reed and Patricia A. Reed dead.

Investigators say Rivers also tried to set fire to the home, but firefighters put it out quickly.
