Antelope Resident Hurt In House Fire While Trying To Save His Dogs

ANTELOPE (CBS13) - A devastating fire destroyed a home in Antelope early Friday afternoon.

The scene was on Bitter Root Court. Metro Fire firefighters were called to the scene around noon and found the home in flames. Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to other homes, but the house was completely devastated.

Limited access to the back of the house hindered firefighting efforts, crews say.

One resident of the home suffered some burns to his hands and face as he tried to rescue his dogs, Metro Fire says. The man had to be transported to the UC Davis Medical Center to be treated.

The dogs have yet to be found.

Investigators say the fire looks to have been caused by a space heater. In total, according to Metro Fire, the fire caused about $300,000 in damage.
