American Airlines Jet Fixed, Resumes Journey To Sacramento

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - An American Airlines jet that made an emergency landing in West Texas after reporting engine trouble has been fixed and resumed its flight to California.

Fort Worth-based American says Flight 2478 on Friday completed its delayed journey to Sacramento International Airport.

The MD-80 was bound from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Thursday night when the captain diverted to Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. A warning light indicated a possible clogged engine oil filter.

American spokeswoman Brianna Jackson says maintenance crews fixed the problem. The carrier made accommodations for those on board to spend the night in Lubbock.

Jackson says the jet, with 140 passengers and a five-person crew, arrived safely in Sacramento shortly after 8 a.m. PDT Friday.
