American Airlines Flight From Sacramento Makes Emergency Landing

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - An American Airlines flight that left from Sacramento on Tuesday was forced to turn back because of a mechanical problem.

Flight 1218 from Sacramento to Dallas/Ft. Worth left took off around 9 a.m., but had to turn around after an indicator light in the cockpit alerted the crew to a possible mechanical problem, according to a statement from the airline.

The problem was a clogged fuel line, according to a statement from the Sacramento Fire Department.

Firefighters were standing by as the MD-80 landed.

A maintenance team is inspecting the aircraft.
