After Latest Tantrum, Is It Time For Sacramento Kings To Trade DeMarcus Cousins?

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Another temper tantrum from a star player has some considering whether DeMarcus Cousins should remain with the Sacramento Kings.

Cousins was tossed from Monday night's game against the Golden State Warriors after picking up back-to-back technical fouls for taking his anger out on referees.

"There's been a lot of talk about trading DeMarcus Cousins," sports talk radio host Damien Barling said.

Callers to KHTK Sports 1140 gave Barling and Deuce Mason an earful as fans are fed up with hearing about the team's potential without seeing results. They're also fed up with Cousins' uncontrollable outbursts and what they say is coach George Karl's inability to control him.

"What's worse: trading DeMarcus or firing another coach," Barling said.

"When you put it like that choosing between the two I would say most people would say you choose DeMarcus Cousins, because how many years does George Karl have left as a head coach in the NBA?" Mason said.

Even with six years of ejections and suspensions, fans are still giving Cousins a pass, seeing his star potential as being too valuable to trade.

"Work together guys," Tuan Lee said. "We can; everybody else out here has to."

"You see this talent," Mason said. "You need to translate to wins at some point."

"His behavior is unacceptable, and that's on him, but it's up to the organization it's up to the ownership to provide structure for him," Barling said. "And I think they have failed to do that up to this point."

The Kings were up by 2 points on the Warriors—a team now with 1 loss in 30 games—but that lead was gone within seconds of Cousins' ejection and the Kings lost 122-103.
