Abducted San Jose Girl, 6, Found Safe In Stockton

STOCKTON (CBS13) – A 6-year-old girl has been found safe in a Stockton home along with two suspects accused of abducting her.

Ava Bar-Illan was reportedly abducted from her San Jose home early Wednesday morning.

The abduction prompted an Amber Alert in San Joaquin County.

Stockton Police later announced that she was found safe at a home along the 5500 block of Tree Swallow Court. Two suspects, 39-year-old Maurice Cheadle and 35-year-old Dawn Atkisson, were arrested at the scene.

"I do want to thank everybody that was involved in getting her back safely," Ava's mom Renbourne Bar-Illan said.

Police say they got a tip from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department that Ava and her suspected kidnappers were in Stockton.

"The watch commander recognized how critical time is on these matters and therefore our patrol officers were mobilized quickly," said Stockton's Chief of Police Eric Jones.

Ava and her mom got an escort home from the Santa Clara Sheriff's Department.
