9 People Escape From House Fire In North Highlands
NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) – A fire at a North Highlands home early Tuesday morning is suspected to have been caused by a household appliance.
The scene is on Ward Avenue, just off of Jackson Street.
Fire crews say the nine people were able to escape safely from the home thanks to a smoke detector.

A pet turtle did not make it, crews say.
The fire is suspected to have been started by a refrigerator in the garage. Flames spread to the second story before crews were able to get a handle.
