9 Fires Set In Sacramento Garbage Cans Overnight

Authorities are investigating a rash of fires that were lit in garbage cans Tuesday morning in Sacramento.

A total of nine fires were reported in a 20-minute period between 1:40 a.m. and 1:57 a.m. The majority of the fires occurred in the area of 55th Street between Folsom Boulevard and E Street, according to Sacramento Fire Department spokesperson Roberto Padilla.

Aside from a fence being burned, the fires were contained to the cans. There was no damage to homes and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
