8-Year-Old Stockton Girl Helps Domestic Assault Victim Escape

STOCKTON (CBS13) - A man is facing attempted homicide charges after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend in Stockton.

The incident happened at a home along the 8000 block of Mariners Drive. Stockton Police say they showed up at the scene just before 10 p.m. and found an injured 54-year-old woman.

Police say the woman had red marks on her neck, a cut on her forearm and was also missing a tooth.

Detectives believe her boyfriend, 49-year-old Sammie Flonnery, had held a knife to her throat during the attack. However, it appears Flonnery's 8-year-old daughter helped the woman escape after the young girl grabbed onto him.

Officers arrested Flonnery in the area. He has been booked at San Joaquin County Jail and is facing charges of attempted homicide and child endangerment.
