6 Arrested, $35M Of Cocaine Seized In California Drug Bust

SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) -- Six people were arrested and hundreds of pounds of cocaine were seized in what authorities are calling one of the largest local drug busts in recent memory.

Officers with a multi-jurisdictional task force raided a house in Santa Fe Springs on Wednesday, arresting three and uncovering more than 560 pounds of cocaine. They were led to the home after a search of a car the day before in San Bernardino turned up 120 pounds of the drug and led to three arrests.

David King of the task force tells KABC-TV the cocaine belonged to the Mexican Sinaloa cartel and had a street value of more than $35 million.

King says surveillance on the drug operation began last month.

KABC reports three young children were also found in the house and taken by child services.
