38K Tickets To Burning Man Festival Offered Wednesday Sell In 44 Minutes

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Tickets to the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert are just as hot as ever.

Organizers say it only took 44 minutes to sell all 38,000 tickets offered on Wednesday.

It's the single biggest block of tickets that will be sold for the counter-culture festival that attracted a record-breaking 68,000 people to the Black Rock Desert last year.

Burning Man spokeswoman Megan Miller tells the Reno Gazette-Journal everything went smoothly with their new online ticketing partner, Ticketfly, where tickets sold for $380.

Some 3,000 tickets were sold on a presale basis for $650. Another 15,000 tickets are set aside mostly for theme camps and 4,000 for qualifiers in a low-income program at a cost of $190. The final 1,000 public tickets go on sale July 31 for $380.
