3 Men, Woman Killed In Fiery Los Angeles-area Freeway Crash

GARDENA, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say three men and a woman were killed when the car they were in veered off a Los Angeles-area freeway and crashed into a pillar before bursting into flames.

The California Highway Patrol says witnesses reported that the blue Ford Probe was traveling at a high rate of speed before the single-car crash around 3:30 a.m. Sunday along Interstate 110 in Gardena.

The CHP says all four were trapped after the car went over an embankment and caught fire. They died at the scene.

City News Service reports Monday that three of the occupants were 18 years old. One of the men was from Inglewood and the woman was from Compton.

The crash remains under investigation.
