3 High School Students Arrested For Social Media Threats
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) — Police have arrested three Mountain View High School students for allegedly making threats against the campus on social media.
Mountain View Police spokeswoman Katie Nelson tells the Mercury News (http://bayareane.ws/2dGZZyf) the three students were arrested Monday after being questioned about social media posts that threatened harm against students and staff.
Nelson declined to reveal the nature of the threats or specify whether any of the students had the means to carry them out.
She says they were not related to the "creepy clown" threats seen nationwide.
Nelson says they were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of making criminal threats and conspiring to commit a crime.
Mountain View police increased their officer presence on campus Monday to reassure students and staff of their safety.
