3 Classrooms At Elk Grove Church Burned In Fire

ELK GROVE (CBS13) – Authorities say three classrooms at an Elk Grove church were burned in a fire Friday morning.

The scene is at the United Methodist Church on Gage Street, just off of Elk Grove Boulevard.

Cosumnes Fire says their crews showed up just after 7:30 a.m. and found flames and heavy smoke.

Video captured by a witness at the scene showed intense flames coming from the building.

The flames were soon contained, but not before three classrooms suffered serious damage. A concrete wall helped stop the flames from getting to a consignment shop just behind the classrooms, firefighters say.

Investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the fire.
