3 Arrested For Breaking Into Home, Pot Grow Found Inside

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A marijuana grow was found at a south Sacramento home that burglars broke into Wednesday morning.

More than 300 plants were found inside home, which is on Shelby Street just off of Bruceville Road.

Sacramento Police say that neighbors reported hearing glass break at the home. Officers were called to the scene and encountered three men inside. Two of the suspects then ran out, hopped and fence and hid in a nearby apartment complex.

The third suspect stayed inside the home. A K9 unit was then used to subdue him.

Inside the home, officers found the marijuana grow and a handgun.

Officers say that burglaries at houses discovered to be pot growing operations are becoming all too common.

"We run into this, I'd say, probably once a week," said Sgt. Steve Oliveira from the Sacramento Police Department.

The other two suspects were later found hiding inside the nearby apartment complex and arrested.

Officers are waiting on a judge to grant them a warrant so that they can take the plants from the home.

It is unclear who owns the home, with neighbors saying that the home appeared to be vacant for some time.
