3.9-Magnitude Quake Jolts Central California

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, Calif. (AP) — A small earthquake has rattled Central California but there are no reports of damage or injuries.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 3.9 and struck just after 6:16 p.m. Friday. It was centered three miles southeast of San Juan Bautista and about six miles from the town of Hollister.

Some people said they felt the temblor in the Silicon Valley some 40 miles northwest of the epicenter and in coastal Monterey.
