26 People Rescued From Sinking Boat Off Mexican Coast

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Authorities say 26 people have been rescued from a sinking fishing boat off the coast of Mexico.

The Coast Guard says it got a report around 5 a.m. Saturday that Invicta, a 63-foot sportfishing boat, struck rocks near the Coronado Islands and was taking on water.

The Coast Guard says a commercial fishing boat in the area went to the scene and rescued 21 passengers and five crewmembers.

They were transferred to a Coast Guard cutter and taken to San Diego, about 15 miles away.

One passenger had a back injury but declined treatment.

The Coast Guard says the Invicta reportedly broke apart.
