20-Year-Old Marine From Sacramento Killed In Southern California Crash

WINTERHAVEN, Calif. (AP) - A 7-ton Marine Corps vehicle overturned on a California road just northwest of Yuma, Arizona, killing one Marine and injuring another.

The Yuma Sun reports FedEx driver Randall A. Villareal of Yuma told the California Highway Patrol he drifted into the oncoming lane on Ogilby Road about 25 miles from Yuma Tuesday morning, and the Marine vehicle swerved to avoid his truck.

A 20-year-old Marine from Sacramento who was driving the truck was killed, but won't be identified until 24 hours after the next of kin is contacted. The passenger, 20-year-old Heraclio Juarez of Long Beach, is currently hospitalized for lacerations to his head and right leg.

Officials at the Marine Corp Air Station in Yuma say no arrests have yet been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
