ARDEN ARCADE – Two women died after a shooting at an Arden Arcade apartment complex late Wednesday night.

The scene was in the parking lot of a complex along the 1100 block of Howe Avenue.

Exactly what led up to the shooting is still under investigation, but the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident was a double homicide.

Both women died at the scene, the sheriff's office said. Their identities have not been released at this point in the investigation.

On Thursday, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office confirmed they identified a suspect in the killings as 32-year-old Ricky Hunter. Hunter was tracked to an AT&T store near the Arden Fair Mall.

Sgt. Amar Gandhi with the sheriff's office said Hunter shot himself in the chest with a shotgun he had when officers attempted to arrest him in his car. Hunter was alive in an area hospital at last check.
