2 Killed In Crash On Busy Carmichael Roadway

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – Authorities say that two people are dead after a crash on a busy Carmichael roadway Sunday morning.

Officer Todd Van Lindt with California Highway Patrol says that the crash happened a little before 10 a.m. near Marconi and Walnut avenues. Apparently, a car was heading south on Walnut when it lost control, veered across all lanes, then hit a tree.

Two people, a man and a woman in their 20s, were inside the car at the time. Both were killed in the crash, Lindt says.

Witnesses told investigators that the car looked to have been speeding on the roadway. Based on the damage to the car and tree, investigators also believe the car was going well over the posted speed limit.

Both the man and the woman were wearing their seatbelts, Lindt says.

No other cars were involved in the crash.
