Precautionary Lockdown At 2 Georgetown Schools Lifted As Deputies Search For Suspected Gunman

GEORGETOWN (CBS13) - A precautionary lockdown has been lifted at two Georgetown schools after it was reported that a gunman was in the area.

According to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, deputies are searching for a suicidal man armed with a gun. He was first believed to be in the Georgetown area, which is why the schools - American River Charter and Georgetown School - were placed on lockdown. Deputies continue to search for the man, who they have since determined is not near the schools. Staff and students at the schools were never in danger, according to a sheriff's office statement.

The sheriff's office says the gunman is described has having PTSD and was making threats.
