2 Dead After Motorcycle Crash On Highway 99 Near Pleasant Grove

SUTTER COUNTY (CBS13) –Lanes of Highway 99 in the Pleasant Grove area are back open after an accident left two people dead late Wednesday night.

According to California Highway Patrol, a motorcyclist and their passenger were riding northbound on Highway 99 near Howsley Road when they veered into the path of the car next to them.

The two on the motorcycle were killed.

Soon after, another car hit the downed motorcycle, causing that car to overturn.

Authorities say there have been issues on this roadway in the past.

"We've had a lot of fatalities in the area this year," said CHP Captain Sean Harris. "It's just one of those things where people need to pay extra careful attention, particularly motorcycles and pedestrians."

There's no word on if anyone else was injured in this crash.
