2 Bicyclists Struck By DUI Suspect In Elk Grove

ELK GROVE (CBS13) - A man who police say struck two bicyclists with his car is suspected of driving under the influence.

The incident happened a little before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elk Grove Police say they responded to Blossom Ridge Drive and Franklin Boulevard and found that two bicyclists had been hit by a car.

Both bicyclists were riding in the bike lane when they were hit.

Officers say the driver of the car who hit the bicyclists failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. The driver has since been identified as 62-year-old Gary Hubbel.

The bicyclists had visible injuries and were taken to the hospital. They are expected to be OK.

Hubbel is being held at Sacramento County Jail and is facing DUI charges. He is not eligible for bail.
