2 Arrested For Climbing Up Tower Of Bay Bridge

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Two men have been arrested for climbing the 525-foot tower at the end of the eastern span of the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that an 18-year-old and a 23-year-old on Sunday walked up the bike path on the bridge, climbed over the railing and then walked up a large suspension cable to the top of the tower.

The two men were arrested by California Highway Patrol for trespassing as they walked back down the cable.

Highway Patrol spokesman Vu Williams says as a safety measure, people are asked to stay on designated paths.
