16-Year-Old Faces Murder Charge In Carmichael Shooting

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – Detectives have arrested a teenager in connection to the murder of a 25-year-old man in Carmichael.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says the 16-year-old was identified as a suspect in Jonathan McKenzie's death after the teen was booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall on unrelated charges.

Authorities have now added murder to the list of charges the teen is facing.

McKenzie was found shot dead at the Walnut Wood Apartments in Carmichael back on Dec. 12. Witnesses had said they heard some sort of scuffle before hearing a gunshot.

Detectives are still investigating the incident. The teen's identity has not been released.
