12 Arrested In Drug Raid Targeting Northern California Cartel-Like Family
SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say they have made 12 arrests during a southern California drug raid targeting the Reyna-Ceron family organization.
The Press Democrat reports that 150 officers from 10 agencies participated in Thursday's 6 a.m. raids in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park and throughout the state.
Santa Rosa Narcotics Sgt. Rich Celli says the Reyna-Ceron family has run a sophisticated, cartel-like network of heroin and methamphetamine supplies since the 1990s. He says Thursday's arrests included brothers Eutimio and Marcelino Reyna-Ceron, considered among the top suspects.
The raids follow a two-year investigation into the group.
Celli says police conducted a related search in August and found 78 pounds of heroin and meth. The drugs were hidden in secret compartments built into the tire rims of a car connected to the drug ring.
