11-Year-Old Boy Arrested For Arson In Truckee Brush Fire

TRUCKEE, Calif. (AP) -- An 11-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson after authorities say he intentionally started a brush fire near a Truckee apartment complex.

The Tahoe Daily Tribune reports Tuesday that the boy was arrested after fire authorities responded Sunday night to the small fire.

No one was injured and no structures were damaged.

The fire was controlled quickly.

Truckee Police Department Sgt. Robert Womack says the juvenile was initially not cooperative when he was interviewed. However, he later admitted to setting another fire two days earlier that was put out by a neighbor.

In the latest fire, the boy was booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of arson of a forest land and possession of arson-related items.
