11 Families Homeless After Apartment Fire In Suisun City

SUISUN CITY (CBS13) – A three-alarm apartment fire in Suisun City has left nearly a dozen families homeless.

Crews are out at the Village Green Apartments at Sunset Avenue and Merganser Drive.

Just after 2:30 a.m., 11 out of the 12 units at the complex caught fire. Six or seven of them burned, while the rest have smoke and water damage.

Fire officials say the flames look to have started in the attic. Two roofs collapsed.

Neighbors rushed to help each other get out.

"I was sleeping, I heard someone banged on my door, and I jumped out the bed," Dawn Williams said. "I looked at patio, the whole building was on fire."

The Red Cross is at the scene helping the 11 families now without homes.
