1 Person Injured In Sacramento Duplex Fire

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A fire at an apartment in Sacramento sent one person to the hospital on Friday morning.

One unit was destroyed by the fire at the Parkwood Square apartments on Bluebird Lane near Howe and El Camino avenues.

One neighbor wasn't even aware of the fire until neighbors woke her up.

"I was awakened by a neighbor who lives right over here, and she was beating on my window screen and saying, 'There's a big fire, get out, get out. You only have a few minutes to get out.' So I jumped up on the bed and figured out what to grab…," said one resident.

Crews worked quickly to fight the flames. Fortunately, the fire was contained to just one unit; however, neighboring units were affected by the smoke. Another neighbor says a dog now missing after the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
