1 Of 2 People Killed In Carmichael Crash Identified

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – One person who was killed Sunday in a crash on a busy Carmichael street has been identified.

Twenty-nine-year-old Artyom Becher was killed just before 10 a.m. near Marconi an Walnut avenues. Officer Todd Van Lindt with California Highway Patrol says the car was heading south on Walnut when it lost control, veered across all lanes, then hit a tree.

The other passenger, a woman in her 20s, was also killed. Her identity has not been released.

Witnesses told investigators the car looked like it was speeding before the crash. Based on the damage to the car and tree, investigators also believe the car was going well over the posted speed limit.

Both passengers were wearing seatbelts, Lindt says.

No other cars were involved in the crash.
