Yough River Drowning Victim Identified

CONNELLSVILLE (AP) - A 36-year-old man has been identified as the person who drowned in a rain-swollen southwestern Pennsylvania river.

Charles Swift, of Uniontown, was swimming in the Youghiogheny River in Connellsville when he was last seen about 7:45 p.m. Monday.

Authorities believe he was swept away by strong currents. Others in the water tried to help Swift, but he was apparently pulled underwater by the current.

Connellsville is about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
